SD SVP Teens

A Youth Philanthropy Program

This 10 week program was co-created with San Diego Social Venture Partners (SDSVP) to empower a diverse set of youth to vet, analyze and fund a nonprofit creating innovative change around a social issue. Students learn to analyze non-profit financials and impact measurements systems, as well as learn about social issues from experts in the field.

Hack-A-Thon 4 Health

Using data philanthropy to fuel the STEM workforce development pipeline.

This annual week-long data science contest is jointly produced by LiveGoode, Biocom and the SD Data Library as a part of the SD Festival for Science and Engineering. Student teams representing local universities compete to win cash and internships from health science companies by creating the most comprehensive and clearly communicated analysis of data donated by health focused non-profits. Non-profits receive pro-bono data work, companies get to exposure to up-and-coming data science workers and data science students get to show off their skills in front of prospective employers.
